Scientific Name: Psittacara erythrogenys
Two red-masked parakeets arrived at RAREC, both unable to fly due to wing clipping. These two were housed together however a wild parakeet kept visiting Kiwi and we made the decision to release her to be a bonded pair since she was up to health standards.
A few days later Strawberry was relocated to a local facility to be an ambassador animal to teach the general public about the illegal pet trade of parakeets. Strawberry was left unable to fly and will never be released unfortunately.
