Balu the Capuchin
Meet Balu!
He is our newest Capuchin (Cebus spp) and is around 3 months old. Balu was found by some researchers studying in the Peruvian Amazon Jungle very close to dying from starvation. They nursed him back to health for a week and then gave him to the Environmental Police who handed him to us at the end of February 2023. Despite being such a little guy, he loves his meals and not a drop gets wasted! For now, he is eating milk and are going to start feeding him small pieces of fruit too.
Once he is eating solid foods and is big enough to fight for his own food, he will join our troop of 3 adult Capuchins. When they become a group of 15, they will be released into the wild.
