ANSWERS TO OUR
Frequent QUESTIONS
Find answers to common questions below! If you don’t see what you’re looking for, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to help!
Where does my donation go?
As a nonprofit organization, 100% of your donation goes directly toward our mission. Your support helps provide essential care for our rescued animals, funds conservation efforts to protect wildlife, and supports our education programs to raise awareness about environmental and animal welfare issues. Every contribution makes a difference!
How do I get from Iquitos to RAREC?
We are located on the right side of the road from Iquitos to Nauta, at kilometer 47. You can reach us by car or take one of the local buses. The bus station is called Transportes Jaén, located at Calle Aguirre Cuadra 14. The ticket cost is a maximum of 15 soles. Be sure to inform the driver that your stop is RAREC at Km. 47.
Can I volunteer at RAREC?
Yes! We offer a variety of programs for those looking to join our team and support our mission. Whether you‘re interested in wildlife conservation, veterinary care, or community outreach, there‘s a way for you to get involved.
Do you pick me up from the airport?
If you are staying more than seven days and your flights are within our designated pick-up and drop-off times, yes. Your return trip to the airport is also included. If your flight is delayed or beyond our working times, you will need to arrange and pay for a taxi to or from RAREC.
Is there WiFi?
Yes, we have reliable Starlink WiFi available in the study room, clinic, dining room, entrance, volunteer house, and staff accommodation.
Can you cater to my dietary requirements?
We can accommodate most dietary needs, but we are unable to provide Halal, Kosher, or meals for individuals with airborne allergies or multiple severe allergies. We can offer a vegetarian diet as an alternative to Halal and Kosher meals. If you are vegan or gluten-free, we recommend bringing extra snacks and food to supplement the RAREC menu.
How much money should I bring?
We recommend bringing 200 soles per day off. Volunteers have one day off per week.
What should I pack?
It is easier to carry a backpack from the entrance through the jungle to your room rather than a wheeled suitcase. If you do bring a suitcase, pack light, as you will need to carry your luggage for a 5–10 minute walk over uneven terrain.
